The Coquí is Puerto Rico's "Little Frog," and has become the Puerto Rican people's beloved mascot. It gets its name from the sound it makes: "Koh-Kee? Koh-Kee?" Our Coqui Tour is also small, but equally profound in its impact on your winter-burdened soul. The Coquí Tour includes:
-
Personal 'luxury' tour of the spectacular El Yunque Rainforest
-
Ride in our exceptionally equipped classic Land Rover vehicles
-
Drive off-road to a secluded beach for afternoon of Caribbean beach luxury
-
We'll set up a luxury mini-camp for total beach comfort
-
Enjoy unique, delicious lunch and snacks
Additional Information
See our Frequently Asked Questions and Puerto Rico Info pages for more info on traveling to The Island of Enchantment, Puerto Rico.
The Coqui Tour departs from our 9:00am meeting spot in the Isla Verde / Condado area, where we'll meet and ride in our exceptionally equipped Land Rover vehicles, heading East to the spectacular El Yunque rainforest. We'll take the "old road" through the Pinones (Pinyon Pine) State Forest, alongside one of the longest undeveloped beaches in Puerto Rico. Soon we'll be chugging our way 2,000 feet above sea level to some of the most beautiful waterfalls, streams, geology and foliage in the Caribbean.
We'll stop at the El Portal Visitors Center for a short video showing the history of the rainforest, and to explore the interactive educational displays. On our way out, we'll walk the short (.4 mile) El Portal interpretive trail where we'll see the beauty of El Yunque face to face. We'll leave the Visitors Center and continue to higher altitudes to see La Coca Falls, to climb the Yokahu Observation Tower, and see the famous Baño Grande.
After our picnic lunch at one of the picturesque picnic areas in El Yunque, we'll do some light off-road driving, with our destination being a beautiful, secluded beach. We'll set up a temporary 'luxury' camp (awnings, tables, chairs, hammocks, loo, fresh-water shower, etc), where you'll be served snacks and beverages. Here you can swim in the aqua blue waters of the Caribbean, walk the shoreline, play a game of dominoes, or simply relax in a hammock and listen to the breezes blowing through the palms.
We'll maximize our beach time while getting you back to your San Juan area hotel in time to enjoy your evening on the town (roughly 6pm).
